In Ireland alone, over 1,000 people have benefited from this programme, learning not just their rights but also how to advocate for themselves within the legal system.
Approximately 600 participants attended the 2024 edition of the KYR program in Ireland. DLA Piper engaged its clients in co-delivering part of the training sessions, including leading Irish and international companies. This collaboration leverages US and Irish businesses to deliver positive social change.
In partnership with Deloitte, KYR participants in Ireland who complete the programme have access to paid internships. In 2022, DLA Piper recruited its first intern from the programme and plans to expand this initiative, setting an example for other corporates in Ireland.
DLA Piper’s global pro bono efforts include over 10,000 pro bono hours dedicated to this initiative, with 801 lawyers involved.
Globally, the KYR programme has delivered 515 training sessions across 17 countries, engaging over 3,200 displaced people of 115 nationalities. Many participants are women, and the firm’s global approach reflects its understanding of the diverse needs of refugee populations worldwide.
